ACOMA History

●January 1921
Our founder, Mr. Komataro Ando, aged 28, started medical equipment trading at 1-chome, Hongo, in the city of Tokyo (location of present head office building).

●March 1927
Succeeded in manufacturing Japan's first aneroid-type sphygmomanometer, and started to distribute it as the "Acoma sphygmomanometer". This item became so representative of Acoma that when anyone said "sphygmomanometer", people
thought of Acoma.　　　　

●November 1939
Reorganized as <Ando Komataro Shoten Limited Partnership>.

●March 1943
<Acoma Medical Electric Machinery Company> established.
Increased production of products began in the company's own newly-acquired plant in Sendagi-cho, Tokyo.

●April 1948
<Ando Komataro Shoten Limited Partnership> and <Acoma Medical Electric Machinery Company> amalgamated to establish <Acoma Medical Industry Co., Ltd.>, the present company. New head office building constructed.

●March 1955
Manufacturing of "Acoma Trichloral Anesthesia Apparatus" started. Around1960, completed general-anesthesia apparatus, notable for being the first anesthetic apparatus made in Japan.

●September 1961
New head office building (present head office building) constructed.

●November 1964

●November 1968
Kyushu Sales Office opened (Daigakumae-cho, Fukuoka city)

●June 1973
Mr. Toshiharu Ando became President.

●July 1977
Omiya Factory constructed (Oya, Omiya city). Productivity of company's own products improved.

●August 1982
Building acquired in Higashi-ku, Fukuoka city:Fukuoka Sales Office moved to that building.

●May 1991

●April 1992

●June 1992
R&D Division Building constructed in Shiba, Kawaguchi city.

●April 1995
Sapporo Sales Office (Kita-ku, Sapporo city) andKita-Kanto Sales Office (Omiya city) opened.

●June 1995
Production of "Table-top type Acoma mercury sphygmomanometer" exceeded 100,000 units, an impressive record seldom seen in the medical equipment industry.

●November 1997
Chukyo Sales Office opened (Higashi-ku, Nagoya city).

●May 1998
Tohoku Sales Office opened (Taihaku-ku, Sendai city).

●July 2000
Omiya Factory and R&D Division obtained ISO 9001/9002 certification.

●January 2001
Toshikazu Ando succeeded Toshiharu Ando in the post of President, and Acoma celebrated the 80th anniversary of its foundation.

●September 2002
Shikoku Sales Office opened (Takamatsu city).

●November 2005
The Sales Div. advances to animal medical field.
